When you are thinking about Pomeranian training behaviors that you can help your Pomeranian develop, it is important that you keep several things in mind. First of all, respect for your Pomeranian is the best way to help yourself have a good time with training. Secondly, when training your Pomeranian, the best way to manage your dog is to use positive reinforcement. This will allow your dog to learn at a much faster rate. Negative reinforcement is never the way to go about proper Pomeranian training. Any dog training books will tell you the same thing.
To help yourself get started, you and your dog must have a good relationship. Your Pomeranian should be able to trust you, and you should be able to trust your dog to a certain extent. Next, you will need some small treats, a clicker and a good idea of what you would like your dog to learn.
In order to help your dog learn his positive Pomeranian training behaviors, and therefore avoid the negative ones, you first need to establish some control over your dog. This should be done in a positive way, by teaching him the three basic commands. These are “sit”, “down” and “stay”. With these three commands, you can train your dog to listen to you, do what you say, and respect you.
After you have taught your Pomeranian these commands – which are considered to be the three main tenets of dog training, it is time to move on to getting them to stop negative behaviors. The only way that you can move on to this step is if you have successfully taught them a few simple commands. This will help establish that you have control over them. Once you have this control, you can begin with the other types of commands. Be sure to always use some sort of positive rewards, as this will quicken the training process.
Once you have taught your dog some basic positive training, it is time to concentrate on getting them to avoid negative Pomeranian problem behaviors. One of the things that you can do in order to help your dog behave better is to use the idea of distraction. Remember that a dog who is bored is going to be much more prone to being a naughty dog. If you can keep enough dog treats and toys around, and put up the things that you don’t want your dog to get into, you will have a better time isolating which negative behaviors come from boredom and which need to be dealt with.
After you have isolated the behaviors, you can start to work on them. Remember to take them in small steps, one at a time. If you have a dog that barks a lot, work on distracting them, mid-bark. Then, you can praise them for not barking and for being quiet. You have to trick them into doing the positive behaviors, so that they can get praised for them. Then they will begin to learn.
Showing your dog respect is the best way to teach them the positive Pomeranian training behaviors, and to avoid the things that you do not want them to be doing. Most dog training books will let you in on a little secret. Positive reinforcement is the best tool that you have when it comes to dog training.
