The main reason that people use dog collars is for safety and identification.  Most people will look at a lost dog collar first to see who the dog belongs to.  The next thing that dog collars are for is to make it easy to hook up a chain.

The newest thing for dog collars is for tracking.  No matter what the size large or small and radio device can be inserted into the dog collars so you may be able to track the dog down if it gets lost.  This technique is better than putting the radio device under the dog’s skin.

When a person first gets a puppy, they get some type of slip collar for the puppy, used for taking the pup for a walk.  Some dogs over time will learn how to remove the collar and you will then need to change over to the traditional belt-style dog collars.  These types of dog collars have also been known by the name of choke collars.  How they work is as the animal pulls harder the chain or belt gets tighter.  This can sometimes cause damage to the dog’s throat or neck.

There is a lot of information that you can put on these tracking device chips.  These chips that you put in the dog collars or under the skin can tell the veterinarian exact information about the dog.  It can also tell the owners name, address and phone number so the animal can be returned safely.  You have to remember that having the chip in the dog collars might be better than under the dog’s skin.  But when the collars are replaced the tracking device needs to be replaced.

Think How You Would Feel With A Belt Around Your Neck?

When you start to think about buying dog collars for your pet, think how you would feel with a belt around your neck all the time.  The dog collars should be purchased for your animals comfort.  When first put on, a lot of times the animals are not to happy about having a dog tracking collar around their neck.  They will try to remove it with there paws since it is such a distraction for them.

The collar needs to be large enough to provide comfort to the animal, but at the same time be a size that fits snug enough to prevent the dog from pushing it over its head.

When buying belt-style dog collars, you should get one that has more than one hole.  These holes will all you to adjust the dog collars for proper fit and comfort.  These types of tracking dog collars can come in a variety of collars and sizes to fit the owner’s needs as well.

If you were to ask the dog which dog collars they like, it probably would not be available.  The dog does not care about the color or the width of the dog collars.  If it is a tracking dog collar, they care that they have it on and don’t know that it is there.  That is what a dog cares about.  They do get used to wearing the dog collars after time, so don’t worry about that.
